After what feels like a millennium, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have finalized their divorce.
Awkwardly, the end of the couple’s story came just moments before Mimi’s shocking breakup from billionaire James Packer.
Could the two be related?
Right now it seems unclear if the Elusive Chanteuse’s new status as a 100 percent single woman influenced her latest split.
What is known, however, is the former Mr. Carey signed his divorce papers at the end of the summer, likely sometime in September, TMZ writes.
“Something really bad” reportedly went down between James and Mariah’s assistant mere days after Nick, 36, signed on the dotted line to settle the breakup.
While the “Fantasy” singer, 46, is mourning the unexpected apparent end of her engagement, she can at least celebrate a successful dissolution of her marriage.
It seems the former couple’s prenup made the decision-making pretty easy, which makes us wonder why it took so long following their May 2014 separation.

Mariah and Nick reportedly agreed to joint custody of their adorable twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
