Doctor beat daughter and called her a prostitute for going to Halloween party
doctor who beat his teenage daughter and called her a ‘prostitute’ after she went to a Halloween party faces being struck off.
Heart specialist Dr Gohar Rahman, 57, smacked her on the buttocks with his walking stick, punched her head and said he no longer ‘recognised’ her as his daughter, a medical tribunal heard.
The girl, then 17, was then made to change from her party dress into traditional Islamic clothing and pray, at the family’s home in Standish, Greater Manchester.

She had stayed out all night and slept at a male friend’s house, even though her parents wanted her home by 9.30pm the previous day.
Since the attack, Dr Rahman, a consultant cardiologist at Wigan Infirmary in Greater Manchester, has been suspended, but faces losing his job at the disciplinary hearing.
The daughter, now 18, who has been identified only as ‘A’, described her father as ‘looking like a monster’ and described the beating as ‘awful’.
