Man who brutally beat dog on a train is named, shamed and jailed

A man who was caught on CCTV brutally torturing a dog on a train has been jailed for eight months and banned from owning animals.
22-year-old Kieren Milledge was seen hanging the defenceless animal by the lead and swinging it against the wall of a train.
The dog was then placed on a seat while he pushed his foot against the dog’s face.
Milledge, of no fixed address, admitted to causing the unnecessary suffering of an animal and possession of a bladed weapon at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The Staffordshire bull terrier was attacked on a train between Braintree and Witham on October 10.
Staff later discovered the poor dog’s excrement on the seats and walls of a train carriage.
They cancelled the Essex train and checked CCTV images where they saw the dog had been abused.
The dog died three days later after appearing to choke and was buried by members of the family who were unaware of the attack.
The dog’s body has now been recovered but it is unlikely that a post-mortem will be carried out.
No defence was put forward in court, with Milledge admitting drinking heavily on the day and claiming to have no recollection of the incident.
He has been held in custody since his arrest for his own protection – following a number of threats made against his life.
