Artem Lobov gave the Irish crowd in Belfast a home win as he earned a
unanimous decision victory over Teruto Ishihara at UFC Fight Night.
Lobov is one of the adopted Irish heroes of the UFC as part of Conor
McGregor’s SBG team and was the overwhelming home favourite as he came
out to fight Ishihara.
It was an enthralling fight that ebbed back and forth in the first before Lobov took control.
The Japanese fighter is entertaining at his worst and bounced around
the cage as he kept Lobov moving and attempted to hit him on the
counter.
Ishihara dropped Lobov in the first round, but the Russian-born fighter returned the favour and then some in the second.
Lobov brushed aside kicks from Ishihara and when he caught him square
midway through the second round, the Irish crowd smelt blood.
Unfortunately Lobov was met with just a smile from Ishihara as his opponent successfully shake off the setback.

The end of the second turned into somewhat of a slug fest as both men
exchanged punches and Lobov caught Ishihara with a quick left.
With just seconds on the clock, Lobov unleashed on Ishihara who
backed against the cage and took some severe punishment from his
opponent before the bell came.
McGregor was on his feet to applaud his SBG teammate and Lobov went
into the final round on top as his SBG team watched cage side.
Now into the third and Lobov attempted a hammer fist before Ishihara floored the crowd favourite with a big hit.
WORK FROM HOME
Lobov on the mat stunned the crowd, but he recovered and adopted the defence stance with Ishihara on top.
Some great scramble work from Lobov freed the SBG man as Ishihara tried to switch into a more dominant position.
Back on his feet and Lobov regained his dominant position and rattled
Ishihara with some big punches before slamming him onto the mat and
raining down shots.
Both judges had Lobov as the winner and the Russian hammer was joined in the octagon by his delighted teammate McGregor.
After the fight Lobov just had one thing to say: ‘The Russian hammer is back!’
